i feel awful at the moment.
there are lots of interesting threads on the go and i want to participate but i haven't got the energy.

Sorry to hear the pain has got you down. Hope it takes an upswing soon, your health that is. I don't know where you live, but I hope you're heading for spring there. Being outside and listening to music seem to help me.

my friend is and gave me a phone number to call and she said i could listen in on the meeting to hear what she hears.
she specifically said they won't ask for my name or phone number or record my information from the call.
The phone hook-ups for meetings are limited to members who are too sick to attend. At the congo I used to attend, you had to be chronically sick to hook up to the meetings. If you just had the flu or something, you didn't qualify.
It does get to the point where some may not be able to listen due to not having enough lines. It was interesting to watch the elders decide who was sicker and deserving and who they thought was just too lazy to attend the meetings. It all caused some hard feelings amongst the elderly.
It has never been open to the general public and I doubt it ever will be.
this thread is directed to believers and those with an open mind.
today is easter!
as i grow in my spirituality i cant help but think about the sacrafice that god made by allowing his son to die for our sins.
I don't ever worry about whether others will be "saved". It is not my decision and never will be. I don't see where condemning people to a fiery hell has anything to do with having an open mind. Do you?

the easter vigil mass (at which i was baptized) was 8 p.m. yesterday, and we had a meeting at the church yesterday morning.
so i went home for the afternoon to get ready for the evening.. so who else would show up at our door (during the three hours or so i was home all day) but two jw elders.
Congratulations on your baptism. Does your husband talk to others about your new faith? It seems rather unusual they would come at such a specific time, if no one tipped them off.
I have told them no to a visit a couple of times on the phone. Then they just show up when my husband or I are in the front yard doing yard work. We just keep the conversation superficial and never invite them in. My husband keeps working while talking to them. I remember how people would do that to me when I went door to door. Kinda like showing them your busy and they are interupting.

my great nephew, 8 months old, was killed yesterday.
so far appears to have been murdered by his sitter, a couple with whom my nephew and his girlfriend have been living.
they beat and drowned this little baby.
I am so very sorry for the little one and all of you. The death of a baby is very difficult and saddens me greatly. I wish all of you the strength to deal with this loss.
the memorial i think is getting close to being over in most parts of the world.
i'm really interested to know if the recent watchtower article encouraged any to partake for the first time.
did anyone notice this?
I know one man who is in his early 30's. He started to partake 2 years ago. They pretty much ran him off and he no longer attends. He's dfd now too.
this year i came to the realization that the jw memorial is primarily about death, sin, and compliance.
easter is a celebration of resurrection, rebirth and life.
just like we have come to expect from the borg- take a positive, uplifting celebration and highlight the dark aspects of it.
If there was one word I would use to describe the memorial it would be "dead". They spend all their time talking about the death of Jesus. Very little to none is spent on the resurrection. Then they spend the rest of the time talking about why those present can't share in the celebration that Christ initiated. They wind up with why don't we do more, meetings, field service,etc.
I come away from the memorial with the feeling of condemnation and the whole process certainly has no sense of celebration. Looking at people's faces, they seem so blank. Even the music is pitiful, no inspiration there. So, yes, dead is the best decription.
I have been to sunrise services outside at a church where the regeneration of the spring is compared to the resurrection of Christ. The sermon is about the hope this provides for all mankind. The hymns are beautiful. You go away inspired and feeling better about life. Never do they tell their members they shouldn't partake or that they are lazy and need to do more.
Just my experiences.

i do recall last years was in april (the date i cannot recall) i was wondering why this year is in march?
The full moon was last night. Why are the witnesses celebrating the memorial a day late this year?

Some of the accepted uses of blood for jws allow hemoglobin from stored blood that has passed its expiration date. Witnesses always think they are protected by their beliefs, but the opposite is often true. I have given blood to people on the day before the expiration date stamped on the bag.
I would guess that the risk of not receiving the blood would be much greater.
